It’s true that part of the enjoyment of cooking for friends is to make something very special. But sometimes, with a large group to cook for, it might be nice to try a delicious, yet very simple vegetable dish, just to show of the flavor of the vegetables.

Cut the cabbage in half and slice it into large leaves. Discard the core. Melt the butter in a heavy sauté pan and add the cabbage. Sauté for 10 to 15 minutes, until the cabbage is tender. Flavor with salt and pepper.

If you want to dress this up, add some soaked and chopped sun dried tomatoes, or some walnuts, or even some bacon (chopped to bite-size pieces).
